Abayomi Bilesanmi, founder of the Lagos-based publication Kosofe Post, recently took a break from the demands of Nigerian journalism to explore Llandudno, a historic seaside resort town in North Wales.
Known for its Victorian architecture, coastal scenery and distinctive natural landscape, Llandudno offers visitors a mix of seaside culture and outdoor attractions.
During his sightseeing visit, Bilesanmi explored some of the landmarks that have made the town a popular destination for visitors.
One of the highlights was the Great Orme, a limestone headland overlooking the Irish Sea. The site offers expansive views of the surrounding coastline and can be explored through several transport and walking options, including the Great Orme Tramway.
He also visited Llandudno Pier, a Victorian-era landmark extending into the sea and lined with shops, traditional attractions and viewpoints overlooking the coastline.

Another stop was the Marine Drive and promenade, which provide views across the town, coastline and surrounding landscape. The scenic route around the Great Orme is one of the area’s notable attractions.
For Bilesanmi, the visit offered a change of pace from the busy rhythm of journalism and publishing in Lagos, providing an opportunity to experience the landscape, history and seaside atmosphere of North Wales.
The trip also offered a glimpse into the contrast between the fast-paced environment of Nigerian media and the slower rhythm of a historic British coastal town.
With its combination of Victorian heritage, dramatic coastline and seaside attractions, Llandudno provided a fitting backdrop for the brief escape.
