A leadership dispute has emerged in Oworonshoki Kingdom, Lagos State, following the circulation of a proposed legal notice asserting that HRM Oba Babatunde Saliu, the Oloworo of Oworonshoki Kingdom, remains the sole rightful traditional ruler of the territory.
The notice challenges any competing claim to the traditional throne, including titles or public representations associated with Oba Oko Baba Agba. It calls for such claims to be withdrawn pending determination by the appropriate court or traditional authority.
Emphasising the motto, “One Kingdom, One Traditional Throne, Peace and Unity,” the notice urges all parties involved in the dispute to respect the rule of law, maintain peace and avoid actions that could cause confusion or trigger conflict within the community.
It also calls on members of the Oworonshoki community to exercise restraint while the leadership question is addressed through the appropriate channels.
However, the document expressly states that it is a proposed legal notice and not an order issued by a court.
The dispute raises questions about the recognition and authority of traditional leadership in Oworonshoki, although the claims contained in the notice have not been established by a court ruling.
