Road users across some parts of the Kosofe area of Lagos State have every reason to be apprehensive about the coming rainy season. Because of the horrific experience many people had as a result of the massive flooding that occurred during the period, leaving pools of water in potholes everywhere you turn on the road.

Kosofe Local Government, Agboyi Ketu Lcda and Ikosi Isheri Lcda are mostly affected during the rainy season, which always coincides with a major Oyam dam release.

Consequently, the water level in the council areas will increase.

Recently, the Honourable Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Moyo Ogunlewe, held a meeting with Community Development Associations from the fourth tier of governance, CDA’s, to intimate them about his administration’s plans for the season.

While explaining why road construction will be suspended until the rain subsides, The chairman noted that rainwater and asphalt are not campactible and said he will focus on drainage and canal clearing respectively.

During the meeting held with CDA’s 3 principal officers at the Council’s Secretariat, along Ogudu Ojota road, he directed them to furnish the council with the lists of flood prone areas for the council’s urgent attention.

He further seeks their full support and cooperation towards making their respective communities flood free.
