Kosofe, Lagos State – The results of the just-concluded Lagos State House of Assembly elections for Kosofe constituency 2 have been announced, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Femi Saheed, has been re-elected to serve another term in office.
According to the official results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Saheed received a total of 31,690 votes to defeat his closest rival, Adeyemi Hammed Babatunde of the Labour Party, who polled 13,038 votes.
Other candidates who contested for the seat included Ibrahim Balogun of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 2,586 votes, Mohammed Moroof Adeleye of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who received 1,396 votes, and Bakare Babajide Bajodeko of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), who polled 318 votes.
The Kosofe Post reports that Hon. Femi Saheed was first elected to the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2020 through a bye-election to serve out the late Hon. Tunde Braimoh’s tenure. This would be Saheed’s fresh term in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Reacting to the news of his re-election, Hon. Femi Saheed expressed his gratitude to the people of Kosofe constituency 2 for their support and trust in him. He promised to continue working tirelessly to improve the lives of his constituents and to contribute to the development of Lagos State.
The election was generally peaceful and well-conducted, with security personnel deployed to maintain law and order throughout the exercise. The INEC officials were commended for their professionalism and commitment to ensuring a free and fair election.
