Concerned residents and motorists in the Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Kosofe, Lagos State, have issued a fervent appeal to the Executive Chairman, urging prompt action to regulate the rampant and indiscriminate parking of Keke Marwa (tricycles) on Ikosi Road and Quadri Street.
Daily hardships faced by residents navigating these roads prompted this call for intervention, which also emphasizes the adverse effects of obstructed movement and increased trading activities along these busy thoroughfares.
Our correspondent conducted an on-site investigation during the week and observed firsthand how commercial buses and Keke Marwa often disrupt the smooth flow of traffic and exacerbate congestion in these areas.
Mr. Tolulope Olamipo, a property manager, took to social media, specifically Twitter, to express his frustration and demand immediate action from the local government. He wrote, “Ikosi Isheri LCDA must stop all these Keke Marwa. Ikosi Road is becoming an eyesore due to the indiscriminate parking of the Keke Marwa that took an entire lane on this narrow road.”
This sentiment resonated with other residents who had previously voiced concerns about the indiscriminate parking of commercial buses and Keke Marwa at Quadri Street, located along the busy Ikorodu Highways within the same local council. These parking issues have made it challenging for motorists to navigate their way through the area’s adjoining streets.
The increasing traffic congestion, combined with the disruption caused by parked vehicles, has become a pressing issue for the local community. Residents and motorists are hopeful that their appeals will lead to swift action by the local authorities to address these problems, ultimately improving traffic flow and road safety in the Ikosi Isheri area.
