The attention of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA under the chairmanship of Mayor Dele Oshinowo has been drawn to a malicious and highly erroneous publication; titled “Group Slams Dele Oshinowo over Fraudulent Claims on the New Agboyi Bridge” in some conventional and online platforms, wherein an unschooled group, under the auspices of Agboyi Progressive Union, championed by one Comrade Musbau Adebisi, described the visit of Mayor Dele Oshinowo to inspect the ongoing Agboyi Link Bridge construction as “an unnecessary action”. The said publication also maliciously alleged that the Council Chairman “fraudulently claimed to have constructed the Agboyi Link Bridge”.
Although the publication doesn’t really deserve our attention, but for the sake of the unsuspecting public, there is a need to clear the air and rectify the highly mischievous notions propagated by the uneducated and impolite publication released by Comrade Musbau Adebisi.
In view of the aforesaid, it has become necessary to provide the correct and truthful information concerning the subject matter in order to combat every line of misinformation contained in the dubious publication; considering the uncivilized approach being used to put black oil on the white attire of our Council Chairman, who the world over has described as a performer with his superlative performance as a sound and competent grassroots administrator.
Firstly, the initiator of the publication failed to understand the modus operandi of inter-governmental relationship amongst the three tiers of government in our beloved country. Rather, he successfully developed his own disingenuous framework to commission his whitewashed lies in maligning the Council Chairman.
Judging by the report posted on Agboyi-Ketu Voice in which the ignorant Musbau Adebisi jumped the gun in reacting to, nowhere in the article did the Council Chairman state that the Agboyi Link Bridge was constructed by Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, rather, he specifically attributed the construction of the project to the Federal Government (a cursory glance at the last paragraph of the article in Agboyi Ketu Voice shows where it was stated in black and white that “Mayor Dele Oshinowo embarked on an inspection tour of Agboyi Link Bridge constructed by the Federal Government”). Regardless of his genuineness, the evil eye report painted lies to discredit the devoted stands of the Council Chairman.
Furthermore, it is general knowledge that all through the process heralding commencement of the landmark project, the Chairman constantly engaged with several stakeholders. It should be noted that the success story of the Agboyi Link bridge remains a success story of all and sundry in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA and beyond, wherein Mayor Dele Oshinowo is elected to serve, unfortunately however, the uneducated group, in their haste to malign the Chairman and also sow the seeds of discord amongst the political unit in Agboyi-Ketu, failed to recognize efforts of several individuals who worked tirelessly to facilitate the iconic project, thereby painfully omitting the Distinguished Senator Tokunbo Abiru representing Lagos East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, from their list of influencers of the project.
The bad-mannered Musbau Adebisi, acting the script of one Mr. Kehinde Ibrahim Ladega, further mentioned in his hateful report that the Chairman gave a wrong route in order to discredit his rich knowledge of the project , but this statement is another reason to show the faulty foundation of the write up as designed by a drowning man finding a way to float with fake lies, because what he failed to realize is that the route mentioned by the Chairman is the structural design of the Lagos State Government to ensure vehicular movement births in Agboyi town, while the other one quoted by the authors of the publication is the one designed by the Federal Government.
While the Council Chairman has always rejoiced with the hospitable people of Agboyi town over the ongoing bridge constructed by the Federal Government, nevertheless, the Chairman at every fora publicly or privately with the Lagos State Governor, always appeals to the Lagos State Government to help construct another bridge into Agboyi town in order to open up the Community more for investors. Rather than appreciating the efforts of the Chairman to opening up Agboyi land for more investments, the faceless Agboyi Progressive Union are downcast and angry that this project (and pending ones) is happening during the tenure of the present Chairman.
Puncturing the flaws in the badly put-together publication, it is critically pertinent to inform the general public that the style of the present administration overseeing the management of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA is not on a photo-oriented journey to hoodwink the public for vague sympathy, as alluded to by the authors of the publication, on the contrary, the Mayor Dele Oshinowo administration believes in delivering action-driven and uncommon strategies to address pressing issues in the LCDA. For example, during the flood period cited by the group, the LCDA set up a powerful committee headed by the Council Manager to ascertain the level of damage, and we are glad to inform our residents and those beyond that the Committee’s report has been developed and submitted to the relevant authorities for necessary action.
On the issue of sympathizing with affected residents of the flood, it is quite painful to see a man created by God spewing venom and lies in order to attack and malign a man who has done him no wrong whatsoever, just for political gains. It was firmly established with date and on the records that the Council Chairman visited Agboyi Community during the flood period to inspect the ongoing recreational centre constructed in the ancient town by the LCDA, and during this visit he extended his sympathies to residents of the ancient town, while also promising to help mitigate the destructive effects of the flood in the future.
On the issue of the water borehole project, there is a need for the initiator of the press release to acquire a degree in engineering, because of his poor knowledge on solar technology. While his commendation on the project is just a smokescreen, there is a need for him to understand that the water project is 130m depth, and reticulated to several water points, so from all scientific calculations, it would be unrealistic for solar to power the borehole project, because solar power will not be able to distribute and reticulate the water effectively as can be done by conventional electricity.
In conclusion, the public is hereby advised to disregard the crooked publication and avail themselves with the true state of affairs with regards to the Agboyi Link Bridge by contacting any of the officials of the LCDA for information on the project.
