In a bid to alleviate the impact of economic challenges on the residents of Ikenne Remo and its environs, the Rising Hope Initiative has unveiled the “Ikenne Community Kitchen” project. The initiative, officially inaugurated at the Alakenne Palace in Ikenne Remo, Ogun State, aims to provide daily meals to approximately 500 to 1,000 people over the next three months.
At the opening ceremony, the paramount ruler of Ikenne Remo, the Alakenne of Ikenne, Oba Adeyinka Onakade, commended the organizers, Mrs. Kemi Soname and her husband, Honorable Kunle Soname, for their efforts in spearheading the initiative. He expressed gratitude for their commitment to the welfare of the community and invoked blessings upon them.
Speaking on behalf of the Rising Hope Initiative, Hon. Kazeem Afolabi shed light on the objectives of the project, emphasizing the desire to support the government’s efforts in addressing hardship. He revealed plans to provide free breakfast and dinner to residents, with the aim of easing the burden of food insecurity exacerbated by the prevailing economic situation.
Beneficiaries of the program expressed their appreciation and optimism regarding the initiative’s impact. Chizoba Chidinma lauded the project for its potential to alleviate hunger and foster community cohesion. Others echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the significance of the initiative in addressing the challenges faced by residents in accessing nutritious meals.
Kola Owolabi, another beneficiary, expressed confidence in the sustainability of the initiative, foreseeing continued support and positive outcomes for the community.
The “Ikenne Community Kitchen” project is set to serve breakfast from 8:00 am and dinner from 7:00 pm, providing vital support to individuals facing economic hardship in the region.
