Ahead of the 2025 local government elections, Comrade Amos Ojajuni, a prominent human rights activist, has endorsed Hon. Babatunde Nurudeen Durosimi, the son of late Agboyi Ketu LCDA Chairman, Hon. Monsuru Obafemi Durosimi. The endorsement comes as Durosimi emerges as a leading aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Agboyi Ketu Local Council Development Area.
During a phone interview with Kosofe Post Publisher, Bilesanmi Abayomi KOKO, on Monday, January 6, 2025, Ojajuni highlighted Durosimi’s leadership qualities and track record of community engagement as reasons for his support.
“I have assessed all the aspirants and consulted widely,” Ojajuni said. “Hon. Babatunde Durosimi stands out with his vision, leadership qualities, and his ability to unify the people. He has already proven his commitment to addressing insecurity and fostering development in Agboyi Ketu.”
Ojajuni commended Durosimi’s efforts to address insecurity in Mile 12, which had previously plagued the area. According to him, Durosimi engaged youths across the LCDA’s seven wards, market women, and artisans through empowerment initiatives.
“Today, people can move freely around Mile 12 without fear, unlike before,” Ojajuni noted. “He understands that ensuring security brings prosperity. His leadership in tackling these issues before even joining the race is impressive.”
Durosimi has also used sports as a tool to unite the youth and promote harmony within the community. His plans include establishing skills acquisition centers and implementing empowerment programs to tackle youth unemployment and reduce antisocial behavior.
Ojajuni further highlighted Durosimi’s plans to improve infrastructure, health care, and basic amenities in Agboyi Ketu. Among the proposed initiatives are upgrading existing health care facilities, establishing modern drainage systems, and providing potable water to households.
“Babatunde has vast knowledge of Agboyi Ketu’s challenges and is committed to addressing them. His administration will prioritize accountability, transparency, and open-door policies,” Ojajuni stated.
Ojajuni appealed to APC leaders and other aspirants to rally behind Durosimi as a consensus candidate. He praised the outgoing chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, for his achievements but emphasized that Durosimi’s unique approach and vision make him the best choice for the LCDA’s future.
“Other aspirants are qualified, but Babatunde Durosimi is the most unique among them,” Ojajuni affirmed. “Stakeholders, including youths and even opposition members, have endorsed him. He represents a unifying force and the best hope for sustainable development in Agboyi Ketu.”
