A chairmanship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Bashiru Kazeem Dolapo, has pledged to prioritize infrastructural development, education reform, and poverty reduction if elected into office.
Bashiru, popularly known as Donbash, made the pledge during an exclusive interview with Kosofe Post on Tuesday at the APC secretariat in Lagos, where party aspirants were screened ahead of the local government elections.
The aspirant emphasized that his infrastructural plans would include the provision of social amenities and key facilities to foster growth and improve residents’ quality of life. He also promised to transform the local education sector to meet global standards.
“We will create an education environment where every student can compete globally,” he said, adding that his administration would focus on policies that promote educational excellence and innovation.
Bashiru further stated that he would introduce poverty alleviation programmes and revamp the healthcare system within the LCDA. According to him, these interventions would help reduce youth crime by engaging young people in productive activities.
“I want to bring in fresh ideas to improve service delivery in the local government,” the engineer said, noting that his decades-long involvement in politics and passion for community development inspired his ambition.
Highlighting the need for better communication between government and community leaders, Bashiru stressed the importance of accessible healthcare. He proposed upgrading existing health centres, constructing new ones, and deploying technology to improve service delivery.
“We want to ensure effective and efficient service delivery through proper monitoring and project evaluation,” he said. “We’ll also create a communication hub where residents can reach the government directly through a dedicated number for inquiries, complaints, and suggestions.”
On party affairs, Bashiru called on APC leaders to conduct a thorough review of all aspirants and make informed decisions in selecting the most qualified candidate.
“Party decisions are supreme. I urge the leaders to go inward, analyze every candidate critically, and choose the best for the job,” he said.
The APC chairmanship race in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA continues to attract attention as aspirants outline their visions for the community ahead of the polls.
