As political activities heat up ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Kosofe Federal Constituency, a prominent grassroots mobiliser, Comrade Olayiwola Sulyman, popularly known as Opomulero, has cautioned residents against falling for campaign promises he described as hollow and misleading.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Sulyman criticised the flurry of manifestos — which he termed “point-point agendas” — being shared by various aspirants seeking the chairmanship seat in the constituency, warning that such strategies are often used to manipulate voters.

“All these point-point agendas should not be used to rob the citizens,” Sulyman said. “Their dealers — the leaders at the top — do not fall for these agendas they themselves mention. So why should the citizens of Kosofe, Agboyi-Ketu and Ikosi-Isheri swallow these scheming skills learnt from Asiwaju?”

He also expressed scepticism about the effectiveness of APC’s national programmes, noting that several of the party’s agendas at the federal level have yet to materialise.

Urging residents to be discerning in their choice of candidates, Sulyman called for a thorough evaluation of each aspirant’s character, empathy, and commitment to public service.

“If you have bad character, poor upbringing, no empathy and are driven by a ‘me, myself and I’ mentality, you cannot be a better administrator for the common good,” he stated.

Sulyman, who refers to himself as “Opomulero 1,” revealed plans to begin profiling all chairmanship aspirants in the coming days, with the aim of guiding voters toward the most credible and competent candidate.

He stressed the need for a leader who can not only sustain but also surpass the achievements of the outgoing Kosofe Chairman, Mayor Dele Osinowo.

“We need a chairman who can build on and exceed the landmark achievements of Mayor Dele Osinowo,” he said.

The APC primary election for the Kosofe chairmanship is scheduled to hold on May 10, 2025.
