Fresh political tension has erupted in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) following a subtle jab by Adesina Lookman, media aide to the Executive Chairman and APC chairmanship candidate, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, targeted at rival aspirants ahead of the July 12 local government elections.

Lookman shared a group photograph showing Bada prominently positioned at the centre, surrounded by other APC candidates. The image, taken ahead of a scheduled special meeting between Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and chairmanship and councillorship candidates at the Lagos State House, Marina, was circulated via a WhatsApp platform used by APC stakeholders and political watchers.

The photo was accompanied by a provocative caption:

“If you see your candidate abeg mention his or her name under the picture.”

The post has since drawn wide attention, interpreted by many as a veiled dig at the Coalition of APC Chairmanship Aspirants in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and their supporters. The coalition has strongly opposed Bada’s candidacy, citing alleged irregularities in the party’s selection process and her controversial eligibility under the newly enacted Lagos State Local Government Administrative Law.

Observers say Lookman’s message was intended to reinforce Bada’s legitimacy as the party’s recognised candidate, and to signal her endorsement by the state leadership ahead of the governor’s parley with approved flagbearers.

The development underscores the widening cracks within the APC in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, where internal disagreements over candidate selection and legal interpretations of tenure eligibility continue to test party cohesion.

With the countdown to election day accelerating, the Ikosi-Isheri contest is shaping up to be one of the most heated in the state’s council poll cycle.
