As his eight-year administration draws to a close, the Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has announced plans to commission 24 legacy projects, affirming his commitment to delivering lasting infrastructure and community development till the final day of his tenure.

Oshinowo made this known on Tuesday during the commissioning of five newly completed projects, marking the first day of a planned three-day commissioning exercise across the council area.

According to the chairman, the five projects unveiled include a network of three roads totaling 1.75 kilometers—the 800-meter Thomas Laniyan Road, 460-meter Irawo Okunbadejo Road, and 490-meter Abayomi Owoade Road. The roads were formally commissioned by Senator Gbenga Ashafa.

In addition, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, commissioned the Hon. Tunde Braimoh Model Market and the Chief Stephen Oyedele Sports and Recreational Centre, both described by Oshinowo as “legacy projects that will stand the test of time.”

“These are not jamboree projects. They are meaningful, durable interventions meant to serve our people long after we leave office,” the chairman said. “Today is just the beginning. In total, we will commission 24 projects before we leave.”

Oshinowo emphasized that governance should not end months before exit, adding that his administration is determined to serve until the very last day in office.
“Our people deserve the best. This market, for instance, is one of the most modern you’ll find anywhere in Lagos today. We owe it to our constituents to give our best until the end,” he said.
The chairman also appreciated his team, development partners, investors, and community members for their resilience and support throughout his administration.
Political Leaders Applaud Performance
In his remarks, Speaker Obasa commended Oshinowo’s commitment to service, noting that the projects will not only benefit residents but also serve as valuable assets for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in upcoming elections.
“Mayor Oshinowo has laid a solid foundation. These projects are talking points-not just for the July 12 council polls, but also for future elections,” Obasa said. “He has surpassed the expectations of party leaders and residents alike.”
Also speaking, Sen. Gbenga Ashafa lauded the chairman for what he described as “laying the groundwork for continuity.” He urged the incoming administration to sustain the development momentum and build on the legacies being left behind.

“The essence of laying a foundation is to build on it. I call on the next leadership not to disappoint the people,” Ashafa stated.
The three-day commissioning programme is expected to showcase more infrastructure and social development projects across Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, as Oshinowo prepares to bow out of office after two terms.
