A viral video has sparked public debate in Kosofe Local Government after Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, the Executive Chairman, was seen ordering the impoundment of a commercial tricycle — widely known as Keke Marwa — during an enforcement sweep in Ojota.

The incident, initially surfaced by KosofePost, gained renewed attention after a concerned resident submitted a report via the “KosofePost Tells What’s Happening in Your Community” platform on Sunday night.

According to the resident, the incident occurred around Emmanuel Roju Street, Ojota — a known hub for tyre repairs and maintenance of tricycles and motorcycles. What has since stirred public concern was not just the enforcement itself but the identity of the rider.

Eyewitnesses allege that the tricyclist is a known supporter of Chairman Ogunlewe, and had actively campaigned for him during the last local elections. The tricycle, they said, even bore campaign stickers of the Executive Chairman. However, during the operation, Hon. Ogunlewe allegedly failed to acknowledge the rider or extend any courtesy, leading to feelings of betrayal among some grassroots supporters, particularly within the transport community.

Critics argue that such actions reflect a lack of empathy and loyalty to those who backed the Chairman’s political rise. But others insist that governance must not be held hostage by sentiment or personal connections.

As an independent news platform, KosofePost reiterates its editorial stance: while we remain critical of some aspects of the local administration’s governance style, we do not endorse the misuse of public spaces or excuse actions that contribute to traffic congestion and infrastructure degradation.

Political loyalty must not be an excuse for lawlessness.

We will continue to call for governance that is both fair and firm — one that holds everyone to the same standard, regardless of political alignment — while also urging civic responsibility among residents.
