The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, has responded to claims made by All Progressives Congress (APC) member Kemac Emina over the council’s federal allocations and alleged misuse of funds.
Emina, speaking during the Kosofe APC General Assembly, had alleged that the Ogunlewe-led administration received several billions of naira in federal allocations intended for development projects and residents’ welfare. His comments, however, reportedly triggered a violent disruption at the meeting, with Emina and others assaulted by individuals alleged to be aides of the council chairman.
After order was restored, Hon. Ogunlewe addressed the gathering, dismissing Emina’s claims and urging accuracy in public commentary.
“I don’t know where Kemac is getting his calculation from. Please, if you want to say anything, tell the people the right thing — that’s what matters. Whatever it is, forget about the rest,” he said.
Observers, however, faulted the chairman’s handling of the situation, suggesting that the confrontation could have been diffused through “Thomas Jefferson’s principle of turning negative into positive” — implying that constructive engagement would have been more beneficial than confrontation.
The episode has reignited public debate on accountability and transparency within Kosofe Local Government and its Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs). Residents and party stakeholders have continued to question how the council’s reportedly tripled monthly allocations are being utilized amid persistent concerns about poor service delivery and alleged fund diversion across the Kosofe Federal Constituency.
