The Leader of the Kosofe Local Government Legislative Council, Councillor Femi Oyesile, has dismissed circulating claims suggesting that councillors are divided ahead of the 2026 budget deliberations.
Oyesile made the clarification in response to inquiries from KosofePost principal correspondent, Bilesanmi Abayomi, amid rising public concerns that internal disagreements could potentially impede the smooth passage of the forthcoming budget.

The Executive Chairman of Kosofe LG recently kicked off the 2026 fiscal year preparation with a stakeholders’ consultative forum involving selected residents. Following the executive retreat, the proposed budget is expected to be transmitted to the Legislative Council for scrutiny, debate, and approval. However, speculations have emerged online and within political circles about a possible split among councillors, raising questions about whether such tensions could disrupt the process.
In a swift response, Councillor Oyesile rejected the rumours, describing them as unfounded. He stated “Nothing like division among councillors because we just did an in-house induction and seminar together to learn more about the role and functions of the local legislative arm in local government.”
Efforts to obtain comments from Hon. Sulyman Baruwa, the acknowledged leader of the G3 councillor bloc, were unsuccessful, as messages sent to him were declined.
