The Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, HRM Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega (Akinmasa I), has hosted officials of the Nigerian Red Cross Society Lagos State chapter at his palace, where he formally presented two plots of land to the humanitarian organisation in recognition of its support for vulnerable residents in the community.

The land, donated by the Odoyi Ogbo Royal Family of Agboyi, is expected to support the Red Cross in expanding its humanitarian and community-based programmes within Agboyi-Ketu in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State.

During the visit, both parties held discussions on future development initiatives for the kingdom, with emphasis on healthcare delivery, educational support, and community empowerment projects aimed at improving residents’ welfare.

Chairman of the Red Cross Lagos chapter, Mrs. Adebola Victoria Kolawole, commended the monarch’s modern leadership approach, noting that his administration has driven notable progress across the kingdom. The chapter’s secretary, Mr. Olakunle Lasisi, also praised the ruler’s commitment to grassroots development and community wellbeing.

In his remarks, the Olu of Agboyi expressed appreciation for the Red Cross’ longstanding humanitarian interventions in the area, particularly in disaster response, health outreach, and social support programmes. He urged sustained collaboration to deepen impact across the kingdom.

Responding, the Red Cross delegation thanked the monarch and the royal family for the land donation and pledged to strengthen partnership with the traditional institution to deliver more impactful programmes for residents.

Several chiefs and community leaders attended the palace meeting, alongside Red Cross officials, divisional coordinators, and volunteers. The event also featured a historical presentation on Agboyi Kingdom delivered by Royal Prince Ibrahim Oladega, highlighting the heritage and importance of the Olu Agboyi stool.
