The APC is expected to conduct its House of Assembly primary elections on May 23, 2026.
A senior party source familiar with the process stated that while the APC traditionally encourages consensus arrangements to preserve internal unity, the party may allow direct contests if aspirants fail to reach agreements among themselves.
“If the contestants cannot reach a consensus, they will have to test their popularity and political strength on the field,” the source said.
Political observers believe the race, particularly in Kosofe Constituency II, may attract heightened attention due to ongoing political realignments and growing interest among party stakeholders.
With the primaries drawing closer, aspirants are expected to intensify consultations, mobilization efforts, and engagements with party delegates in a bid to secure the APC tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.
