Princess Samiat Bada, the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), has defended her support for Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Bada, who also serves as Director-General of the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Campaign Organisation, made the clarification at a recent APC stakeholders’ meeting in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.
Her comments come against the backdrop of a confrontation during the APC House of Representatives primary election, when Bada accompanied Oshinowo to the Agboyi-Ketu APC Secretariat and was reportedly pelted with sachet water by an angry crowd chanting “Thief! Thief!”
Addressing party stakeholders and residents in the host community, Bada invoked an Ijebu proverb to explain the political decisions she took before, during and after the primary election.
“Omobinrin to koja ni ita Agaga, to fi enu gbe itan olube, o ni oun kii sole nitori ohun tomo ma je loun fi se be,” she said.
The expression, which draws from the traditional story of the stolen meat of Olube at Ita Agaga in Odogbolu, was used by Bada to portray her political choices as decisions made for a broader communal interest rather than personal gain.
She explained that her support for Oshinowo was driven largely by what she described as the longstanding lack of federal representation for the Agboyi-Ketu area.
According to Bada, her political position was intended to advance the interests of Agboyi-Ketu and improve the area’s prospects of securing representation at the federal level.
Her remarks come as political stakeholders across Kosofe continue to mobilise ahead of the 2027 elections, with party loyalties, candidate selection and the distribution of political representation remaining key issues within the constituency.
