The LGNA 12 anniversary held Last weekend’s at Lagos Sheraton Hotel was full of Glitz & Glam” as public Officers sensitized on how to dress for office through a Mini Fashion show.
Top senior management senior staffs spent thousands of naira looking good and always appeared Corporate in their offices. However, feel unconcerned workers under them according to LGNA.
Mr. Tunde Jakande the organizer of the event said,”There are no motivation to encourage proper and decent dress sense among staff.”
“Many officials of government who interact with the public are so poorly presented, they are often disrespected or ignored.”
While explaining the need for paradigm shift, he implored senior officers who have excess clothes to give it out to their subordinates.
The Executive chairman of Yaba Lcda, Hon. Kayode Omiyale, and Egbe Idimu Lcda, Hon. Sanya Olu Olowoopejo, GM. Lagos State Consumption Protection Agency, Mr. Solebo Fola who graced the event separately speak on the importance of dressing well to work.
Omiyale advised public officers to always get prepared to accept assignments at anytime by dressing well as internal customers of an organization who carries image of their principals while delivering assignments to External customers.
He noted appearance gives perception of the thousands of staffs in an organization where an assignment originated from. Adding that if someone poorly dressed it will suggest that nothing to write home about such Enterprise and dressing appropriately will always make an individual and Ministry, Department and agencies a reference point.
He urged public Officers to get prepared for assignment and dress smartly.
His counterpart, Egbe Idimu Lcda, Hon. Sanya-Olu Olowoopajo said he always cautions the Council Revenue collectors who are image of the council during Revenue drive to always dress properly.
Olowoopajo stated further dress well cannot be overemphasized applauded Mr. Tunde Jakande and his team for bringing such sensitization to the front burner during her LGNA 12 anniversary event.
Solebo’s in brief remarks to drive home his points quoted Yoruba adage that says, ” irinisi ni isoni lojo” Which could literally be translated to mean that your good look combined with good manners is a good testimony of who you are.
He further explained that what peoples wear could impact on how they are perceived, while saying one will command respect with the mode of dress. “How you dress will give a negative or positive image about you.”
Solebo’s who made reference to Lagos State Ministry of Justice staffs stands out dressing urged public Officers to dress well to give impression about the MDAs they represented.
Mushin LGA Treasurer, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Deborah, Yaba Lcda Council Treasurer, Mr. Giwa, Council Manager Mushin LGA, Mr. Sogo Osikoya and three others strutted the black carpet to promote good dress sense, how to dress on Monday, Wednesday and Friday among public officers to the amazement of the audience.
