IKosi Isheri celebrates Master Olayide Khalid as one-day Chairman

The IKosi Isheri Lcda has honored Master Olayide Khalid, a pupil of Ikosi Primary School who emerged as the first runner-up of the Lagos State Spelling Bee Competition organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Education, as a one-day Chairman of the Council.

Khalid presided at the Executive Council meeting as the one-day Chairman alongside her cabinet members, including Ikosi Primary School teachers and LGEA representatives.

While appreciating the Executive Chairman of IKosi Isheri Lcda Mayoress Samiat Bada for her first of its kind honour bestowed upon him, he described the leadership style of the Council Chairman as exceptional as the chairman made adequate appropriation for the delivery of quality education.

While presiding over the government, Khalid approved payments for the purchase of diesel and other running costs presented to him by the council paymaster. The council manager
who conducted Master Khalid round the council explained the administrative process to the one-day chairman.

He further visited IKosi Isheri Local Council Development Area Legislative Chamber and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) to seek their maximum support and cooperation. 

The leader of the House, Honourable Yunusa Salami, while addressing Master Khalid during his visit to the chamber, noted that in order to ensure that the Council delivers quality education programmes and projects for public schools, the 2022 budget sectorial allocation to public schools presented to the chamber was approved without amendment to enable the council to impact more on quality education.

The one-day Chairman commended legislators and sought their continuous support for the administration’s leadership towards delivering quality education and other life-impacting programmes to the people of Ikosi, Isheri, and Lcda in general.

Earlier, the Chairman of Ikosi-isheri LCDA, Mayoress Samiat Bada, appreciated Master Khalid for making the council proud by emerging as the first runner-up in this year’s spelling bee competition.
While advising the One-Day Chairman and her cabinet to remain diligent and focused in the pursuit of their careers and not be distracted, Samiat said she will continue to prioritize quality and accessible education.

Mayoress Samiat Bada went further to adopt Khalid as a son, as she placed his mother on a non-pensionable salary, rented a room for the woman and promised to support her trading business, amongst others.

Also, the developer of IKosi Isheri International Market, Dr. Chris OnyeKachi, presented cash gifts of N200,000 for Khalid’s education studies and two shops to Khalid’s mother for his unkeep.

While addressing the pressmen, the Council Manager, Prince Sunday Olujobi, commended the Council Chairman, Mayoress Samiat Bada, for upholding the vision of ensuring the delivery of quality education at the grassroots through the Spelling Bee Competition, as initiated by Senator Remi Tinubu while she was first lady of the state.

When the 2022 Spelling Bee Competition Programme started, she gave us all the moral and financial support to execute the programme at its various stages. Today, we are happy that one of the pupils of Ikosi Isheri Lcda emeged as the first runner up. 

While highlighting the separate support given to the one-day Chairman and his mother, a petty trader, by the Mayoress, he noted further that the Chairman directed that the one-day Chairman be given a special honour, which culminated in the special reception held in the Council on Wednesday.
