2023: GAC leaders, Lagos senators, others endorse Abiru’s 2nd term senatorial ambition

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) members, senators and several political stakeholders have endorsed Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru’s second term political ambition.

The endorsement took place on Monday during an event tagged “Eid-El-Fitr Celebrations and Meeting with Political Leaders Across The Lagos East Senatorial District, by Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru.

Lagos East leader of GAC, Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, and members Bashorun Olorunfunmi, Akani Seriki Bamu, Wale Edun and others, while endorsing him for second term, seperately said the senator has performed beyond expectation, described him as a good party man who made giant strides within 16 months in the office.

Others who endorsed include Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, Former APC Lagos East senatorial Vice Chairman, Ashipa Kaolu Olusanya, TACT Chairman, H.E Bode Oyedele, Current APC Lagos East senatorial Vice Chairman, Barrister (Mrs) Olayinka Oladunjoye and Lagos West senatorial Lawmaker, Sen. Olamilekan Solomon, among others.

Speaking, GAC member; Bashorun Olorunfunmi, commended Sen. Abiru for his performance as the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District.

“Sen. Abiru has done us proud and i have never heard that any political office holders will give tertiary students N50,000 each. Even when we were there some of them were receiving the alert.

“Sen. Abiru is the backbone of any committee, so he is promoting himself and the party at the senate level,” he said.

Olorunfunmi urged the electorate to come out enmass to vote their candidate in the forthcoming general election.

He condemned vote buying before and during the election, urging the Electoral umpire to punish the perpetrators of vote buying during the election.

Also, Sen. Olamilekan Adeola, Senator Representing Lagos West Senatorial District, applauded the performance of Sen. Abiru since he was sworn in, in the senate.

Adeola noted that the presence of their great leaders at this gathering showed that he was doing excellently well.

The senator said: “His contributions he made, motions on the floor and oversight functions and we even worked together as member of the committee on Appropriation.

“His contributions to the committee meetings are second to none. Even some agencies that are invited for screening.

“Once they know that Sen. Abiru is among the committee, they will have to think twice because he asked questions away from the traditional way that everyone will asked. This had given the committee an edge over other committees.”

Earlier in his speech, Abiru promised to honour and improve the legacy of his Predecessors Sen.Adeseye Ogunlewe; Sen. Olorunibe Mamora; Gbenga Ashafa and Late Adebayo Osinowo, among others.

Abiru noted that from day one in office, he was preoccupied with the assignment they had saddled him with so that he could give a good stewardship of the sacred mandate they gave him.

He added that with all sense of humility and to the best of my ability he had strived up to the standards set above in the last 16 months or thereabout that he had been in office.

The senator explained that his focus remained around legislative duties, empowerment and facilitation and endowment if given another opportunity to represent the good people of the Lagos East Senatorial District.

He said: “Dear party leaders, the above listed modest achievements are what I have been able to do in the last 16 months, but rest assured I have bigger plans ahead for our people.

“It is on the basis of this that I am seeking a fresh mandate come 2023, but starting with our upcoming primary elections. I count on the support of all.

“As we journey into the decisive year 2023, I urge us all to step up the civic advocacy for our people to register with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“This is in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) and also educate those who have earlier registered to check the validity of their PVCs.

“This is important for all of us and our great party, APC , and our revered leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who will be on the ballot as the presidential candidate of our great party in 2023.”

Abiru concluded that galvanizing and educating voters were the best support they could give for all this aspiration to come to fruition.
