Post Congress-Primary Election: Crisis persists in Kosofe Chapter of APC

Following the outcomes of the 2021 ward, LGA congresses have continued to generate crisis among the All Progressives Congress political gladiators in Kosofe Federal constituency of Lagos.

This medium gathered that Governors’ Advisory Council members, Members of  House of Representatives, and House of Assembly, Local Government Chairmen, among other stakeholders, had agreed on a harmonized list for the party executives.

However, there have been ongoing claims and counterclaims that some of the gladiators later abandoned the gentleman agreement in favor of their supporters by pushing for a different list.

While these were ongoing, the party’s controversial delegate congress election was held. Similarly, protests followed the exercise as well.

Meanwhile, the gladiators were waiting for the APC Congress appeal committee and National Working Committee to address the issue.

However, the party’s House of Assembly and House of Representatives elections were conducted amid several unresolved interparty issues, which also attracted massive protests.

While party members awaited conciliation and true reconciliation in the run-up to the 2023 general elections, political-sponsored attacks and disruptions of party activities and programs were the order of the day in Kosofe.

The APC Kosofe LGA Chairman, Alhaji Kehinde Bello, following the sustained attacks on him, deserted the worth of several million newly renovated LGA offices, reportedly given a facelift by the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Moyo Ogunlewe, to run for his daring life.

According to the Kosofe Post source, Kehinde Belo decided to hold the LGA meeting at the former progressive LGA Secretariat along Anthony Village Road, Kosofe, to carry out the party activities and for safety purposes.

The party chairman successfully swore in APC LGA Executives and Ward Chairmen on Thursday morning before angry party members stormed the venue with dangerous weapons to vandalise millions of dollars in property in the residential building housing the former two terms; members of the House representing Kosofe Federal Constituency of Lagos and Hon. Dayo Bush constituency office.

According to our source, the action of Kosofe APC LGA Chairman, Belo, was contrary to the resolution reached by the party’s apex decision-making organ, GAC.
