Residents of Unity Street, Akinpelu Street, Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area of Lagos State have called on the governor of the state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to come to their aid over the deplorable road that connects the area.

The residents have complained that they are enduring untold hardship and huge economic loss owing to the dilapidated nature of Unity Street and other link roads in the area.

The Chairman of the First Conference of Unity Church of Christ, Apostle Issac Oyelowo Otekola JP, made an appeal ahead of the celebration of the church’s 30th anniversary recently.

Apostle Issac Oyelowo Otekola JP

“We’ve been here for the past years and this road, you see, we are the ones that have been doing the repairs in our own little way, but now we are appealing to the state and local government to please come and visit our area to see how horrible the road is. Sometimes we park our vehicle far away and trek down here. Even this year, we’ve spent a lot on that road.

“The government should please come to our aid,so that life can be meaningful to people living around and around our church.”

According to him, this year’s anniversary is tagged “New Era.” The situation in this country needs us to come closer to God, and my message to the public is that all Nigeria should embrace peace. In the upcoming election, we should all embrace peace and vote wisely.

“Good leadership is what everybody is yearning for,so let’s choose wisely a leader that can actually listen to the voice of the people and hearken to their voice.”

The Kosofe Post reports (KP) that the church conference will commence on September 28 to 29, 10 a.m. daily; praise night will be held on Friday, September 30, by 10 p.m.; and the anniversary will be held on October 2, respectively.

He said, “The conference is to recap all that we’ve been doing before. That is where we are coming from, where we are, and where we are going. What does the future hold? How many branches are we going to have in the next five years? What is the development of our cathedral church etc. Those are the things the conference is about.”
