The attention of the Executive Chairman, Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Barrister Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe has been drawn to a malicious, injudicious, imprudent and provocative online news with the above captioned and published by a faceless Facebook page that goes by the nomenclature, “Kosofe Headline”.

Ordinarily, the Executive Chairman was not perturbed by the hollow messages in the fake news, but this rejoinder became imperative because of the wrong impression the falsely padded messages would have in the minds of the good people of Kosofe nay reading public in general.

The campaign of calumny was scripted and orchestrated by some disgruntled elements within the political circle using hired hack writer in Kosofe Headline to smear the reputation of the hard-working and forward-looking Chairman.

To them, the current Executive Council was just like men Friday, a kind of loyal cabinet used to rubber-stamp Execute Chairman’s whims and caprices.

They described the bubbling Council which is a beehive of activities as a graveyard. What a contrast!

The falsehood that the Chairman was like ” Lord of Manor” running one-man aristocratic and dictatorial show was a lie from the pit of hell. This was debunked by the Scribe to the Council, distinguished Honourable, Fatai Gbadebo who in a reposte to the false allegations said the Executive Chairman has performed excellently well within a short period he took over compared to many of his predecessors.

Gbadebo explained the procedure for the management of the Local Government which is in line with the local government management policy. Said he, “we’ve been holding a series of meetings since Chairman came in july last year, and the Cabinet April this year like Exco meeting, procurement meeting, and other mandatory meetings which Administrative guidelines mandated us to hold on a monthly basis. So l was taken aback when l saw the damaging write-up of that Kosofe Headline posted online. All he wrote there are mere fabricated falsehoods. We have been holding our meetings, there was no contract issued by the Chairman without proper processing”.

SLG further added that the procedure for awarding the contracts began with Exco meeting, then to procurement meeting and in conformity with budgetary provision.

So all these debunk the insinuation that it was a one-man show. The process which was recorded, he further explained, could be seen at the office of Procurement and the Council’s manager.

“On the issue of salary”,
he added, “it is not the Chairman that will decide on his own volition how much he will pay the public political office holders. We have a fiscal and allocation committee in the country which fixed the salary of each political office holder, even Council Chairman can’t fix his own salary. It is a fiscal and allocation Committee that does that. We have a letter from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs stipulating the amount of money each political officeholder would earn monthly. That’s what the Chairman has been doing ever since he came in, he can’t do anything outside that”, he said.

Hon Gbadebo was miffed with the write-up that the people behind were just out to malign the good name of the Council Chairman and the entire Council which has been in peace with one another. He directed them to go to the nooks and crannies of the Council to perceive the good work of the Chairman as construction of various roads, Health care upgrading, procurement of GCE /JAMB forms and other numerous humanitarian works.

As an addendum, we urge the faceless people behind Kosofe Headline’s snipe to come out and seek the truth rather than throwing stones in the dark. The office of the Chairman is an open one they may seek an audience with him or the Office of the Council Secretary.

The Kosofe Headline writer is not a journalist, nor a professional writer and neither is the medium a recognized media outlet. Our candid advice to the poison pen is for him to go to the school of journalism to learn the rudiments and ethics of the profession whether online, print or electronics rather than dishing out falsehood in a poorly written write-up. One of the Journalism credos is truth, if you are in doubt, Don’t publish.

Signed:
Comrade Taiwo Fadipe
Chief Press Secretary to the Executive Chairman, Kosofe Local Government.
