90 percent of female students in universities are already thinking about getting married before they leave universities or immediately after the completion of their course of study.
Many amongst them want a ring on their fingers before they go for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program.
Many young ladies believe their next place of primary assignment (PPA) after NYSC is in to serve in a man’s apartment as a wife and nursing mother (within months).
Many ladies do not think about why they went to the university or give a deep thought on what they are going to do with the certificates they received from their respective tertiary institutions.
The school these young ladies attended and the degrees their schools awarded them are the same as their male counterparts.
Then, why is it that our girls, after their days in the university, always think that marriage is the next thing after leaving the four walls of school?
And this mentality is common among the children of the poor or less-privileged.
I believe that ladies need to go to school, and they need to acquire a university degree but at the same time, they must have it in their mind that they must get a job or engage in business before they start to think about settling down with a man in marriage.
Women need to understand that placing all their financial problems on the shoulders of their husbands is no longer fashionable in this age.
Women, especially young ladies, must sustain a mindset of working for a while and saving money for the future because that is what responsible adults do (men and women alike).
A university degree is not the basic requirement or precursor to marriage.
As a young lady, what you need after bagging your degrees is not a husband, but a job.
