The training was held at the Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL), a first-of-its-kind community innovation space established to train youths in the senatorial district on digital and innovation skills. The Lagos East Teachers’ Fellowship, which is one of the innovative programs at SAIL, equipped teachers with knowledge and tools to integrate technology into their classrooms effectively.

The graduating teachers were trained in Inquiry-Based Learning, a cutting-edge pedagogical approach that encourages students to actively engage with the learning process.

Abisola also announced the launch of the Ikorodu Teachers Lounge, a virtual community that will further deepen knowledge sharing and interactions among teachers who passed through the SAIL.

During the graduation ceremony, the graduating participants eulogized the visionary leadership of Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, for conceptualizing SAIL, particularly Teachers’ Fellowship programme. Adedeji Owoyade, one of the Valedictorians remarked that the fellowship has greatly impacted him as a classroom teacher, and he would recommend the Lagos East Teachers Fellowship to all teachers in Ikorodu and Lagos State.

Blessing Osoba, a Biology teacher at Olomu Community Senior Secondary School, Ibeju-Lekki, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to learn new digital skills and innovative teaching methods, while Qudus Bello, a Further Mathematics teacher at Community Senior High School, Orimedu, said the fellowship program helped him deepen his students’ imaginations and boost their creativity.

Senator Abiru, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr(Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle, congratulated the graduating teachers and urged them to put their newly acquired skills into practice in their classrooms. He assured the participants that Senator Abiru remains committed to investing in the development of human capital in the Lagos East Senatorial District.
