Gov. Sanwo-Olu Inaugurates Senator Abiru SAIL Innovation Lab to Empower Youths, Promote Entrepreneurship

In a bid to empower the youth and foster entrepreneurship in Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has commissioned the Senator Abiru SAIL Innovation Lab in Ikorodu. The lab, developed in collaboration with Co-creation Hub, aims to provide free training for youths, teenagers, and teachers in the Ikorodu area.

The Kosofe Post reports that the SAIL innovation lab, which began operations in 2021, is strategically located in Lagos East, the constituency represented by Senator Abiru. Speaking at the inauguration, Gov. Sanwo-Olu commended Senator Abiru’s initiative, highlighting its alignment with the state government’s vision of leveraging technology for youth development.

The governor expressed his enthusiasm, recognizing the rarity of politicians spearheading such impactful projects. He affirmed the government’s commitment to providing hope and opportunities to the people, stating that the rewards of selfless service are often unforeseen. Gov. Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of technology in propelling the youth forward, enabling them to compete globally and create solutions.

In addition to the SAIL Innovation lab, the governor revealed plans to convert some of the state’s skills acquisition centers into Eko Creation Innovators Hubs. The Yaba area will be transformed into a Tech Campus to further enhance digital skills among the youth. Gov. Sanwo-Olu expressed satisfaction with the collaboration of partners like Microsoft and the Bank of Industry, underscoring the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for international businesses.

Highlighting Lagos as the technology Lab of Africa, the governor shared plans to establish a Metropolitan Fibre Mesh to enhance internet capability and attract more technology-driven investors. He urged corporate organizations to collaborate with innovation centers like SAIL to empower and train future innovators and creators. The government is also considering establishing similar centers across the city.

In conclusion, Gov. Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to Senator and Mrs. Abiru for their remarkable contribution to the innovation landscape, recognizing their partnership as invaluable in shaping a brighter future for Lagos State.

As the Sen. Adetokunbo Abiru, SAIL Innovation Lab takes its place in the vibrant ecosystem of technological advancement, it is poised to empower the youth, foster entrepreneurship, and position Lagos State as a thriving hub for innovation in Africa.
