In a bid to ensure the delivery of essential services to the community, Tracka, a community of active citizens dedicated to monitoring government projects, has called on the Nigeria Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR) to take action and complete the abandoned Youth Training and Skill Development Center in Ogudu Ojota, Kosofe Local Government Area (LGA) of Lagos State.

On Friday, June 23, Tracka took to social media platform Twitter to make a passionate appeal on behalf of the people in the community, as reported by Kosofe Post. The post highlighted the alarming state of the project, which has remained untouched since November 2022 despite the federal government’s allocation of a substantial sum of N36.5 million to Inspiration Int. Technology Concept Ltd for its construction between 2021 and 2022.

The abandoned Youth Training and Skill Development Center in Ogudu Ojota has become a matter of concern for the residents and Tracka, who have been diligently monitoring the progress of government projects. The lack of progress on this crucial facility has undoubtedly hindered the community’s access to vital resources and opportunities for youth development.

Tracka has directed its appeal to the Nigeria Institute of Oceanography and Marine Research, the executing agency responsible for overseeing the completion of the project. They have urged the institute to take immediate action by summoning the contractor back to the site and ensuring that the project is duly completed.

The Youth Training and Skill Development Center was envisioned as a platform to empower the young people of Ogudu Ojota with the necessary skills and knowledge to become self-reliant and productive members of society. The facility was expected to offer a wide range of vocational training programs, equipping the youth with valuable expertise and creating opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment.
