Amidst glitz, glamour, and an air of celebration, Mrs. Owenaze Blessing, the proprietress of Unique Prella Schools in Ikorodu, Lagos, urged the graduands of 2022/2023 to stay focused as the school hosted its End of Session Party and Prize-Giving Day. The colorful event marked the end-of-session for all students, with final year students from SS3, JSS3, and nursery 2 transitioning to their next academic levels.

In her address to the graduands, Mrs. Owenaze Blessing offered words of wisdom, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their academic pursuits and to make a positive impact in society. “My advice to them is that they should focus on what they want to do. Once you focus, you will not lose your way. But if you don’t focus on it, they will derail in many ways, and they will lose it,” she emphasized.

Mrs. Owenaze also shed light on the school’s efforts to sensitize students about social vices. She revealed that the school organized seminars and adopted one-on-one approaches to educate both students and parents about the consequences of indulging in harmful activities. The aim was to instill in them the importance of hard work and the perils of taking shortcuts in life.

Highlighting the joint responsibility of parents, teachers, and the environment in shaping a child’s character, Mrs. Owenaze stressed the significance of collaboration among all stakeholders. “It is both the parents and teachers, the school, the home, the environment. We all have to come together to train these children. If one is missing, then the training is not complete,” she said.

Amid applause and gratitude, Mrs. M.I Bilesanmi, a parent, commended Mrs. Blessing Owanaze and the school management for their dedication in molding responsible and responsive leaders of tomorrow. Mrs. Bilesanmi also called on the government to collaborate with private school owners, like Unique Prella Schools, to address the issue of out-of-school children and improve the quality of education in Nigeria.

Despite the downpour, parents braved the weather to attend the well-attended event, which featured a variety of captivating performances. The audience was treated to an array of showcases, including DJ Peter’s music, Monologue Drama, Health Education on Diabetes and placenta, News Casting, Recorder Duet, Saxophone, Violin, and choir performances. The day’s activities also featured Nursery and Primary Choreography, Ballet Dance, and recorder performances, among others.

The climax of the event was the heartwarming presentation of special gifts and awards to outstanding students and teachers, followed by the ceremonial cutting of the celebration cake.
