The legacy of Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, former Member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, continues to reverberate as his successor, Hon. Kafilat Ogbara, aims to emulate his impactful representation. Agunsoye’s tenure was marked by a plethora of zonal intervention programs and empowerment initiatives, setting a high standard for future incumbents.

One of Agunsoye’s notable achievements was the facilitation of an 80-bed Primary Health Care Centre at Emmanuel Nursery and Primary School, a groundbreaking endeavor aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility for constituents. However, the absence of perimeter fencing and outdoor flooring upon the building’s commissioning sparked spirited debates among genuine residents, transcending political affiliations.

When reached for comment, Agunsoye remained unfazed by criticism, emphasizing that the responsible agency had completed the first phase of the project. He welcomed any scrutiny from dissenting voices, highlighting his commitment to accountability and transparency.

The ensuing discourse prompted action from the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP-SDGs) Nigeria, earmarking funds for perimeter fencing, outdoor flooring construction, and the supply of hospital equipment to the newly established healthcare facility. A total of N54,666,666 has been allocated for this purpose, signaling a concerted effort to address the project’s deficiencies and ensure its functionality.

Agunsoye’s proactive approach and the constituents’ vocal advocacy have been instrumental in catalyzing this response, underscoring the importance of community engagement in driving developmental projects. As the healthcare center nears completion, both Agunsoye and the constituents deserve commendation for their collaborative efforts in advancing vital healthcare infrastructure, poised to alleviate the strain on facilities like the overstressed Gbadaga General Hospital in Kosofe.
