Residents of Agiliti-midan-mile 12 were left reeling in disbelief as Councilor Biliaminu Talatu, representing the ward, faced heavy criticism for holding a hand fan for Executive Chairman, Samiat Bada, during a palliative distribution event in Ikosi Isheri LCDA, Kosofe.

Councilors are entrusted with the vital task of representing their communities, acting as liaisons between the people and the council. However, Talatu’s actions have ignited outrage, with many questioning his commitment to the community’s interests.

Critics argue that Talatu’s behavior epitomizes the perception that councilors are mere puppets of the executive arm, prioritizing personal gain over the welfare of their constituents. Some residents have gone as far as labeling his eight-year tenure as “pure slavery,” accusing him of neglecting his duties and reducing himself to menial tasks.

Kayode Abiodun lamented the lack of achievements during Talatu’s tenure, suggesting that such councilors resort to becoming real estate agents to sustain themselves financially. He pointed out that this behavior contributes to rising housing costs, further burdening residents.

Oloye Seun Salami condemned the incident as a display of imperial rule, emphasizing the humiliation felt by constituents witnessing their representative’s subservience. He called for accountability and urged residents to demand better governance from their elected officials.
