Ajiran Indigenes Reject Controversial Ojomu Royal Family Notice

Indigenes of Ajiran Town, located in Eti‑Osa, Lagos State, have publicly distanced themselves from a recent notice allegedly issued by the Ojomu Royal Family, questioning both its authenticity and intent.

In a statement made available to the public, the community described the notice—purportedly signed by the Ojomu of Ajiran Land and the Balogun of Ajiran—as lacking the “royalty” and credibility expected of palace communications. They labelled the allegations in the notice as “spurious” and called for a thorough, impartial investigation into the killings of Sheriff Isola Salami (April 18, 2023) and Prince Ademola Akinloye (August 26, 2024).

The indigenes stressed that while they support lawful investigations into the deaths, such processes should not be exploited for blackmail or personal vendettas by individuals allegedly controlling the Ojomu family and its heritage.

According to the statement, the disputed notice attempted to link the murder investigations with contentious land sales in Ajiran, a connection the indigenes rejected as an attempt to advance ulterior motives. They pointed out that prior murder probes had not implicated prominent community youths, warning that reopening the matter in tandem with renewed propaganda signals a potential witch-hunt.

The group emphasised that Ajiran land, historically associated with the Ojomu Chieftaincy family, is a communal asset belonging to all indigenes, rather than the exclusive property of a few individuals. They challenged those in control of the land to account for billions of naira reportedly generated from the sale of thousands of acres to private buyers and multinational companies, questioning what community projects, scholarships, or benefits have been funded from the proceeds.

The statement also expressed solidarity with two named community members described as champions of transparency, alleging that they had faced harassment for demanding accountability over communal assets.

Reaffirming unity among Ajiran natives, the group concluded that truth and accountability will ultimately prevail, urging residents to remain steadfast while lawful investigations continue.
