A recent commentary by Abioye Oshodi on the political situation in Kosofe Federal Constituency has triggered fresh debate, with critics questioning the accuracy of his claims and the depth of research behind the broadcast.

In a widely circulated clip, Oshodi accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) and a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council, Otunba Bushira Alebiosu, of orchestrating the ongoing crisis involving the Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe.

He further alleged that Alebiosu masterminded a petition submitted to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC)against the embattled chairman through loyalists.

While observers note that Alebiosu may choose to respond to or ignore the allegations, attention has shifted to what many describe as inconsistencies in Oshodi’s narrative.

Findings indicate that before the current controversy, a former Supervisory Councillor for Boundary Matters in Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Ganiu Oyebanjo, had independently filed a petition against Ogunlewe in the lead-up to the 2025 local government elections.

Oyebanjo’s action reportedly resulted in his arrest, detention, and subsequent prosecution over allegations of theft of classified documents used to support his petition—an incident that significantly altered the political dynamics within the council.

Further developments have added complexity to the unfolding situation. Some individuals who served in Ogunlewe’s cabinet and were initially linked to Oyebanjo later distanced themselves from the petition, claiming their signatures were unlawfully extracted and superimposed from documents related to thrift contribution exercises. They denied being signatories to the ICPC petition.

Political watchers say the crisis has since evolved, marked by shifting alliances and emerging internal disagreements within the local government. Notably, several individuals who previously defended the council chairman and opposed Oyebanjo are now reportedly at odds with Ogunlewe.

As the situation continues to unfold, analysts argue that recent developments may lend credence to Oyebanjo’s earlier claims, raising further questions about the origins and trajectory of the political dispute in Kosofe.
