Reactions have continued to trail the decision of former Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman, Dele Oshinowo, to join the race for the Kosofe Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oshinowo’s declaration has sparked widespread discourse among political stakeholders, party loyalists, media practitioners, and community members across Kosofe, reflecting growing interest in what is shaping up to be a competitive contest.

Supportive Reactions

In a reaction shared via the KosofePost WhatsApp platform, the Publisher of KosofePost, Bilesanmi Abayomi, described the development as welcome, noting that Oshinowo’s ambition did not come as a surprise given his track record in office and continued humanitarian engagements.

Similarly, Taiwo Lasisi, President of Ta’awunu Humanitarian Forum, Lagos, commended the move, describing it as a positive development for democracy. He praised Oshinowo’s “capacity and capability” in governance and urged aspirants to respect party processes and support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.

Oloye Salami Oluwaseun also welcomed the development, emphasizing that healthy competition remains essential for democratic growth within the APC.

Brand and Image Strategist, Lanre Aborisade, congratulated Oshinowo, stating that the increasing number of aspirants offers constituents a broader range of choices. He called for campaigns to remain peaceful, issue-based, and credible.

Dissenting Views

Not all reactions were optimistic. Engr. Olusola Emmanuel Adedayo expressed skepticism about Oshinowo’s chances against the incumbent lawmaker, Kafilat Adetola Ogbara, suggesting that a stronger opportunity might lie in the 2031 election cycle.

Adding to the debate, Comrade Olayiwola Sulyman, popularly known as Opomulero, described Oshinowo’s entry as a major disruption to the political landscape, noting that it could significantly impact Ogbara’s re-election bid.

He added that the coming months would determine whether Oshinowo can secure the backing of APC leadership, key stakeholders, and broader political blocs. Sulyman also pointed to the potential influence of opposition parties, including the People’s Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, and Labour Party, in shaping the outcome of the contest.

Outlook

Observers say the growing number of aspirants signals an emerging phase of more competitive and issue-driven politics in Kosofe. Stakeholders are increasingly calling for the emergence of the most capable candidate to represent the constituency.

As political activities gather momentum ahead of 2027, analysts note that the Kosofe Federal Constituency race is likely to be closely contested, with outcomes dependent on party dynamics, voter sentiment, and candidate appeal.
