The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Bode Ojajuni, has described the proposed construction of a Police Area Command in Ikenne by Kunle Soname as a rare and commendable gesture.

Ojajuni made this known during the foundation-laying ceremony of the project, where he conveyed the appreciation of the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Rilwan Disu, to the donor and the Ikenne community.

Describing the initiative as a significant intervention in strengthening security infrastructure, the police chief noted that such contributions from private individuals remain uncommon and highly valuable.

“This is a rare privilege and a remarkable gesture. On behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, I express deep appreciation to Chief Kunle Soname and the entire community for this laudable initiative,” he said.

Ojajuni commended Soname’s commitment to supporting law enforcement, noting that the planned facility—comprising administrative offices and residential accommodation—would enhance police operations in the area once completed.

He further assured that the Ogun State Police Command would ensure the facility is effectively utilised to improve service delivery and security within the community.

“The people are our bosses, as emphasised by the Inspector-General of Police. We will ensure that this facility, when completed, is put to the best possible use to serve the people efficiently,” he added.

The Commissioner also pledged strict supervision of officers under his command to ensure professionalism and responsiveness, particularly in addressing the security needs of Ikenne and its surrounding areas.

The project forms part of activities marking Soname’s 60th birthday and is expected to significantly boost security presence in the rapidly developing Sagamu–Ikenne axis.
