Questions surrounding the political backing and funding behind the House of Assembly ambition of Dr. Murtala Seriki have continued to generate discussions among party members and constituents in Kosofe Constituency II ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election.
Political observers within the constituency have repeatedly raised concerns over the growing campaign structure supporting Seriki’s aspiration against the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Femi Saheed.
Sources within the constituency alleged that the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Bada, alongside some of her aides, has been actively mobilising support for Seriki’s bid to secure the APC ticket for Kosofe Constituency II.
There are also speculations regarding alleged high-profile support for the aspirant. Some party members have mentioned the name of Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a possible supporter, although no official confirmation has been made concerning the claim.
Another source further alleged that a prominent member of the APC Governance Advisory Council (GAC), identified as Alhaji Mutiu and said to be politically close to Princess Bada, may also be among those backing Seriki’s ambition.
Meanwhile, the contest for the APC ticket remains highly competitive, with several notable aspirants reportedly intensifying consultations ahead of the primaries.
Among those mentioned in the race are members of the APC coalition of chairmanship aspirants in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, including Balogun Wasiu Oluwatoyin, Omoba Adeyinka Oyediran, and Queen Oluhungbebe.
Others reportedly in contention include the President of Succour for Health and Education Foundation, Samuel Adebayo Olanrewaju (SOA), who had previously contested but later stepped down in line with party arrangements in past exercises.
Also linked to the race are Pastor Oyelakin Olubukola S. and Barrister Oladipupo Olawale Ajayi, whose recent declaration reportedly attracted significant attention across social media platforms.
The incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Femi Saheed, is seeking another term in office and is believed to retain the backing of some influential APC leaders within the constituency.
Ahead of the APC House of Assembly primary election scheduled for May 23, political stakeholders continue to monitor developments within the party closely.
Sources within the APC suggest that if aspirants reject any alleged preferred candidate backed by influential party leaders, the contest may eventually proceed through an open primary election to determine the party’s flag bearer for Kosofe Constituency II.
