Mrs. Abisayo Busari-Akinnadeju, a presidential aspirant of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) for the 2027 election, has resigned from the party, citing the leadership’s alleged failure to conduct a free and fair primary election.

In a resignation letter addressed to the party’s National Chairman and obtained by KOSOFEPOST in Akure on Friday, Busari-Akinnadeju accused the party leadership of abandoning democratic principles by adopting a consensus candidate.

According to her, the decision was “opposing and inimical to the growth of the party.”

“I write to notify you, and through you the National Working Committee, of my resignation as a member of the Democratic Leadership Alliance with immediate effect from the date of this letter,” she stated.

“I do not resign in defeat. I resigned because I am not permitted a fair contest, and I will not lend my name to a process that has abandoned its own rules.”

The former aspirant also demanded a refund of her presidential nomination fee, arguing that the party failed to provide the fair and lawful primary process for which the payment was made.

“I respectfully request written confirmation of receipt of this resignation and a refund of the presidential nomination fee I paid, the consideration for which, a fair and lawful primary, the party has not provided,” she said.

Busari-Akinnadeju further requested the return of any personal documents or materials in the possession of the party.

She expressed appreciation to party members across the country who supported her ambition, noting that they “deserve far better than the conduct of those who now lead them.”

Despite her resignation, the Ondo-born politician insisted that her presidential ambition remained intact under what she described as the “Dare Nigeria” agenda.

“My commitment to the 2027 presidential race and the Dare Agenda, and to the millions of Nigerians who have answered the call of #DareNigeria, is undimmed,” she said.

“I will continue that work on a platform worthy of it.”

Busari-Akinnadeju maintained that recent developments within the party had only strengthened her resolve to pursue political change in Nigeria.

“A party that cannot conduct a fair primary among its own aspirants cannot credibly promise a fair country to its citizens,” she added.

KOSOFEPOST reports that Busari-Akinnadeju hails from Akungba Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
