Allegations of internal betrayal have emerged following the defeat of Hon. Kafilat Ogbara in the recent All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election for Kosofe Federal Constituency.

Segun Aromokunola, a political stakeholder in the constituency, made the allegations while reacting to a report titled “Lagos APC Internal Rebellion: Stakeholders Condemn Ogbara’s Refusal to Concede Kosofe Ticket.”

Speaking in the comment section of Kosofe Post’s official Facebook page, Aromokunola questioned calls for Ogbara to concede defeat, arguing that the primary election was neither transparent nor credible.

“Why will Ogbara concede defeat when it appears the process was manipulated and not transparent?” he said.

According to him, the lawmaker’s defeat was allegedly orchestrated by individuals from within Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where Ogbara hails from.

“The purported loss was orchestrated by some people within Ikosi-Isheri LCDA where she came from. We saw it on tapes how thugs were mobilised during the primaries. The process was flawed,” Aromokunola alleged.

Although he did not identify those allegedly involved, he described the actions as a betrayal of party loyalty and local political interests.

Aromokunola further argued that party authorities should have sanctioned members from Ikosi-Isheri who worked against a candidate from their own council area.

“In a sane situation, some of the people from Ikosi-Isheri that worked against Ogbara would have been disciplined by party authorities. Charity begins at home, but not in Ikosi-Isheri,” he stated.

He also warned that the current political dynamics within the LCDA could have long-term consequences for party cohesion.

“The table will definitely turn one day and everyone will reap what they sow. We have to go back to the drawing board in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, and the time is now. Most of the people who worked hard to build the party in Ikosi-Isheri since the Alliance for Democracy (AD) days are now outsiders in the same house they built,” he said.

The comments add to the growing debate surrounding the outcome of the APC primary election in Kosofe, where Mayor Dele Oshinowo emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives election.

As party leaders continue reconciliation efforts, the allegations underscore lingering tensions within sections of the APC in Kosofe ahead of the general election.
