The Oba-elect of Oke-Alo, His Royal Highness Oba Abeeb Adeyemi Faronbi (Eringoke Alo I), has extended royal felicitations and prayers to traditional rulers, Ìṣẹ̀ṣe practitioners and members of the Yoruba community as they celebrate Ìṣẹ̀ṣe Day.
Oba Faronbi, who is the Oba-elect of Oke-Alo, Gbagada, Pedro, Mende, Idiroko, Anthony and Maryland communities within Kosofe Local Government Area, described Ìṣẹ̀ṣe as an important foundation of Yoruba identity, culture and communal values.
In a goodwill message issued on behalf of the Crown Prince, he said the celebration provided an opportunity for Yoruba people to reconnect with their roots and preserve the traditions handed down by their ancestors.
“Ìṣẹ̀ṣe represents our roots, culture, heritage, and the enduring traditions of our ancestors. It is a celebration of unity, peace, moral integrity, and deep reverence for the Almighty and the Orisas that guide our land.”
Call for Cultural Preservation
The Oba-elect urged traditional leaders and adherents to prioritise the preservation of Yoruba customs and ensure that traditional knowledge is passed on to younger generations.
He noted that preserving cultural heritage was essential to maintaining a strong sense of identity in an increasingly changing society.
Oba Faronbi also called for peaceful coexistence among residents across the communities under his traditional jurisdiction and the wider Kosofe area.
Prayers for Kosofe and Lagos
As part of the royal message, prayers were offered for continued peace, unity and economic prosperity across Oke-Alo, Gbagada, Pedro, Mende, Idiroko, Anthony, Maryland and the wider Kosofe Local Government Area.
He further described the values embedded in Ìṣẹ̀ṣe as sources of wisdom, communal healing and shared prosperity, urging residents to draw lessons from the cultural and moral principles associated with the tradition.
The felicitation concluded with prayers for the wellbeing of the people and the continued preservation and flourishing of Yoruba culture and heritage.
