Former Lagos East Senator, Gbenga B. Ashafa, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Tajudeen Afolabi Adebanjo Elemoro, the Onitedo of Itedo, Oke Odo Elemoro, Ibeju-Lekki.
In a condolence message, Ashafa described the monarch’s transition as a deeply personal loss, citing his maternal ties to the Elemoro Royal Family and the shared ancestry that connected both families through heritage, tradition and longstanding affection.
The former senator paid tribute to the late monarch’s reign, describing Oba Elemoro as a wise and dignified traditional ruler who devoted himself to preserving the history and unity of his people.
According to Ashafa, the late Kabiyesi served as a father figure and unifying force across the kingdom, leaving a significant void in the Elemoro Royal Family and the wider Ibeju-Lekki community.
Ashafa extended his condolences to President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, former Lagos State Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola, Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Deputy Governor Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, as well as the Chairman and people of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area.
He also expressed solidarity with the Elemoro Royal Family, Elemoro-in-Council and the entire kingdom during the period of mourning.
Ashafa prayed that Almighty Allah grant the late monarch eternal rest and give his family, chiefs and subjects the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
