On Sunday, May 22, the Kosofe chapter of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) finally found a replacement for Moyo Ogunlewe, who dumped the party for the APC shortly before the 2019 general elections.

Since Moyo Ogunlewe, whom the party gave its Lagos State House of Assembly ticket for Kosofe Constituency 1 in 2015 and 2019, left the party, no visible and popular candidate has emerged.

However, the emergence of Gabriel Babasola from the famous Owoaje dynasty during last Sunday’s PDP primaries revealed that the contest may not be an easy ride for the ruling All Progressives Congress, whose primary election is scheduled to be held on Thursday.

He polled 6 votes out of 12 delegate votes to defeat Debo Adesina, who had 5 votes.

According to a party source, there would have been a rerun election had one of Debo’s delegates, Mrs. Hashrup, who was far away abroad, participated in the exercise.

Recall that during the 2021 Local Government Councilorship Election, Owoaje, who contested then under the platform of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), came second.
