Despite the departure of its 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), from the party, the Lagos State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and good governance.
In a joint statement issued on Monday, key PDP stakeholders acknowledged Jandor’s exit, describing it as a reality that necessitated clarification given their past association with him before, during, and after the election.
“Our relationship with Jandor was based on sincerity and commitment to democratic norms, which compels members to stand by the party’s candidates in all elections without reservation,” the statement read.
While recognizing Jandor’s constitutional right to freedom of association, the undersigned stakeholders emphasized their own choice to remain loyal to the PDP, asserting their belief in the party’s ability to deliver governance free from corruption, nepotism, and dictatorship.
“We remain committed to a political philosophy that guarantees internal democracy and prioritizes people’s welfare above personal gains,” they stated, urging supporters to stay steadfast despite the challenges facing the party.
The statement was signed by prominent PDP figures, including Chief Ola Apena (former Deputy State Chairman), Samusideen Arobieke (former State Treasurer and Director of Organization for Jandor’s 2023 campaign), Hon. ‘Niyi Adams (former State Youth Leader and campaign strategist), Hon. Hakeem Amode (State Publicity Secretary), and Babatunde Olanrewaju (Deputy Director General, Lagos East, Jandor’s campaign).
While wishing Jandor well in his future political journey, the stakeholders maintained that they remain bonafide, dedicated, and committed members of the PDP, determined to uphold its values and rebuild trust in the party.
