A newly unveiled banner featuring members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Kosofe Chapter has ignited political conversations and stirred speculation about a brewing political realignment in Lagos State ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The banner, which boldly displays the ADC logo along with the inscription “Kosofe Chapter, Lagos State”, features a group of party supporters believed to be part of a swelling grassroots movement. The development is seen by political observers as a strategic move by the ADC to position itself as a credible alternative to the dominant All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Sources familiar with local political dynamics suggest that the ADC is increasingly attracting disenchanted members from both the APC and PDP, many of whom are seeking a new platform ahead of the next electoral cycle. The banner is seen as an early signal of the party’s growing ambition and its intent to become a formidable opposition force in Lagos politics and beyond.

Notably, two influential political figures—Honourable Rahman Owokoniran, a former PDP leader in Kosofe, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, former Osun State Governor and a prominent APC stalwart—have been linked to the ADC’s rising momentum. Both men command deep grassroots support and their potential alignment with the ADC could significantly shift the political balance in the state.

While not all the individuals featured in the banner have been publicly identified, analysts believe that more political actors, especially in Kosofe and other strategic constituencies, may soon declare support for the ADC as internal rifts deepen within the two leading parties.

With the 2027 general elections on the horizon, the emergence of the ADC in Kosofe underscores a possible shake-up in Lagos’s political terrain. As momentum builds, all eyes will be on how the established parties respond to the growing opposition wave.
