Following the July 2021 successful Election that saw All Progressives Congress winning the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos State has earlier reported made several potential candidates to intensify efforts in getting appointment.
Contrary to the reports that the health status of Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu is affecting the Local Council cabinet composition a source has disclosed that those seeking Local Government appointment may have to exercise more patient according to the past precedents.
The source who was not authorized to speak for the party said during the administration of the Former Governor Akinwumi Ambode it took about 3-months before the appointees names was announced.
Precisely, yesterday the newly elected chairmen mark one month in office. It’s expected in two months time or thereabout the Local Council may hit the ground running.
When pressed further over the reason why the closest government to the grassroots should suffer such delays while the Council Chairmen were long expected to come up with cabinet members list immediately they were sworn in he said it doesn’t work that way.
He noted further that beside the appointment of Chief of Staff the Chairmen doesn’t have a say over who become the cabinet members.
He added that delay is necessary to take care of aggrieved APC members and other interest groups.
