Primaries: APC protesters storm Lagos secretariat over alleged imposition of delegate lists

No fewer than 1000 protesters of All Progressives Congress (APC) members stormed the state secretariat to register their disapproval over alleged plans to impose delegate list after delegates had emerged through successful congresses.

The protesters under the aegis of the Kosofe APC with different inscription such as “leave alone delegates in Kosofe, Ojelabi let the winner of Congress in Kosofe be, Ojelabi must go, Ibirogba leave Kosofe alone, and several other inscription urged the state Chairman not to impose delegates and destroy the party in Kosofe.

Addressing journalists, the Convener of the protest Hon. Gbenga Osobu, lamented that the APC members saw a list of another delegates that was different from the ones that had been voted for.

Osobu said the APC leaders in Kosofe had not called for leadership meeting in the area for over mine months

“APC leaders had not called different stakeholders, aspirants and delegates to a meeting before the primary election scheduled to begin on Thursday.

“We will resist any attempt to impose another delegates on us and with what we have gotten, with our lives and strength that if we exist till tomorrow.

“How can someone impose another delegates on us, those people that mobilize 100 persons for election, those people that have lost elections,” he said.

Osobu said they had mobilize over 12,000 members to participate in last congress in Kosofe and won all the 10 wards.

He said the party chairman in Kosofe to liase with wards chairman and now the delegates list want to be manipulated.

Responding, the APC State Chairman, Mr Cornelius Ojelabi, thanked the protesters for their patriotism and commitment towards the growth of the party.

He said: “Let me thanked you for the direction you have chosen to ventilate the matter that could lead to crisis in the party.

As we all knew that today is the preparatory towards the party primaries that will commence tomorrow so we need to exercise some patience over the issue.”

Ojelabi thanked the protesters for identifying themselves towards the former governor of Lagos State, Sen. Bola Tinubu whom had developed the state to an enviable positions.
