With the March 18 Governorship and House of Assembly Elections fast approaching, the odds are looking favorable for the incumbent lawmaker representing Kosofe constituency I and APC candidate, Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon.

It should be recalled that the failure of the opposition parties to form an alliance during the recently concluded Presidential and National Assembly election also contributed to the victory of the president-elect, Ashiwaju Bola Tinubu.

Many believe that the split votes of the two major opposition candidates, Atiku Abubakar of the PDP and Mr. Obi of the LP, totaling 13,086,053 votes, paved the way for Tinubu.

However, aftermath of the poll, many aggrieved and spectators members have sheathed their swords to work for the party’s victory, and the religious dissenting against the presidential candidate has subsided.

In Kosofe constituency, most of the frontline contestants have an equal chance of winning the state constituency seat. However, a repeat of the Presidential election outcome in favor of Okanlawon is expected as the PDP, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, NNPP, and others have jettisoned the idea of forming an alliance against APC and its candidate.

Furthermore, the support of APC political veterans, such as Senator Olorunimbe Mamora, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Hon. Muyiwa Adedeji, Hon. Adekunle Soname, and others, as well as the appeal and canvassing of Late Senator Adebayo Osinowo’s son, Dr. Tunde Osinowo, are expected to sway electorates in favor of Okanlawon and his Kosofe constituency 2 counterpart, Hon. Femi Saheed.

Political stakeholders’ support and disunity among the opposition parties and candidates will boost the chances of the lawmaker’s re-election bid, according to keen political watchers.
