In a strong-worded statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday, the ruling lineages of the Ogu’ja Olu-Isa (OLISA) Royal Dynasty in Ijębu-Ode, Ogun State, have issued a warning to Chief Alade Taiwo Shote regarding his derogatory comments and castigation of the royal heritage of the institution.

Represented by Prince Olusegun Olusoga, Prince Ęni-Oba Onanuga Ololade, Prince Adesoji Okubadejo, Prince Babatunde Fowokan, Prince Lateef O. Adesanya, and Otunba Ladipo Adeokun, the royal family expressed their concern over Chief Alade Taiwo Shote’s continuous denigration and aspersions cast upon the Olisa of Ijębu-Ode.

The statement highlighted the historical significance and governmental recognition of the institution, tracing its roots back to more than a century ago through the Act of Ordinance of 1904, as well as subsequent recognition through the Western Region Native Law of 1957 and the Ogun State Chiefs law of 1980.

Emphasizing the authenticity of their claims, the statement underscored that the inherited heritage of the Ogu’ja Olu-Isa Royal Dynasty was widely acknowledged by the general public. It challenged Chief Alade Taiwo Shote to answer a series of questions pertaining to the rites of installation of an OLISA OF IJĘBU-ODE, showcasing his understanding of the genuine history of Ijębu-Ode.

The statement further declared that these questions would be posed to him in a public debate or a questions and answers program on a televised platform of his choice. Alternatively, Chief Alade Taiwo Shote was encouraged to seek judicial interpretation or redress at the highest court if he deemed it necessary, as the royal family was historically equipped to defend their claims.

Furthermore, the statement shed light on Chief Alade Taiwo Shote’s alleged ignorance of the genuine history of the land, discrediting his personal claim of being a ‘High Chief’ and highlighting inconsistencies in his title. It questioned the validity of his claimed position as Otun Balogun, stating that it was not recognized in the town’s genuine historical hierarchy.

The Ogu’ja Olu-Isa Royal Dynasty urged journalists to conduct thorough investigations before disseminating unfounded and baseless claims from privileged individuals. It emphasized that Chief Alade Taiwo Shote’s assertions were commissioned to spread lies and distortions about the genuine historical links and ancestral assertions, necessitating the need for their rejoinder.
