Primate Charles Odugbesi, a former Lagos State Secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), former Director-General of Bayo Osinowo Campaign Organization, and Senatorial Coordinator of The Mandate Movement Nigeria, had recently made headlines when he issued a statement supporting the choice of an Ikorodu indigene for the Lagos State Commissionership position.

The shock and disbelief surrounding Odugbesi’s sudden passing have reverberated through the political sphere. Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, a former Member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon, a Member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Prince Oladega Ibrahim, the former Special Adviser on Politics (South West) to Speaker House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, were among the prominent figures who expressed their condolences through a chat on Friday.

The loss has been felt not only within the political class but also among the wider community. Chairman of Farmcity International, Lanre Carew, and Prince Muyideen Yusuf Olatunji, the Supervisor for Agriculture Social Development and Chieftaincy Affairs at Ikorodu-West LCDA, were also among those deeply affected by the news.

A heartfelt message from Mutiat Jamiu read, “Primate Charles Adeleke, may your soul rest in perfect peace. A good leader to the core, we love you, but God loves you more. Man’s soul is God, and God is man’s soul. Good night, Daddy.”

Bilesanmi Abayomi, the publisher and principal correspondent at Kosofe Post, described Odugbesi’s death as shocking and unbelievable. Just a few days ago, the deceased had personally sent a press statement to the publication for publication.

“On behalf of Kosofe Post and its management, we extend our condolences to the Odugbesi family, the people of Ikorodu, and Lagos State at large over his sudden death,” expressed Bilesanmi. He offered prayers for the departed soul and wished strength upon Odugbesi’s family, friends, and associates to cope with this irreplaceable loss.
