Chairman Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe’s tenure at the helm of Kosofe Local Government has been nothing short of transformative. Disclosing his administration’s achievements during a press briefing to mark his 2-year stewardship, Ogunlewe revealed how he propelled the council’s Internal Generated Revenue (IGR) to new heights and unveiled plans to convert a library project into a state-of-the-art ICT center.

Upon assuming office, Hon. Ogunlewe undertook the formidable task of boosting the council’s financial health. He shared that the IGR had stood at approximately 60 million naira before his administration’s intervention.

However, through strategic measures guided by a tax consultant and guided by what he called “a special grace of God,” the IGR experienced a significant increase, reaching an impressive 70 million naira. Ogunlewe candidly expressed that initial projections had aimed for an ambitious 200 million naira, yet the uncertain economic climate urged them to adopt a gradual, prudent approach.

Amid preparations for the upcoming Kosofe NULGE Election on Wednesday, Ogunlewe assured stakeholders of his commitment to a seamless process.

He confirmed that consensus had been reached among gladiators for a ratified candidate, emphasizing his strong stance against any disruptions during the election exercise. He underscored his belief that a peaceful transition in leadership is vital for the growth and stability of the council.

Addressing a historical challenge, Ogunlewe celebrated the resolution of cult clashes and killings that had plagued Kosofe Local Government before his tenure. Through skillful diplomacy and dialogue, he revealed that all parties were now working in harmony, nurturing a cohesive community spirit.

Acknowledging the legacy of his predecessor, Hon. Afolabi Sofola, Chairman Ogunlewe committed to seeing through inherited projects. He assured the completion of the Mofesajo Primary School project before December, and funding was allocated to promptly finish Ade Pitan Street, a project that was already in progress.

The chairman offered a glimpse into a visionary transformation underway at Emmanuel High School. What was originally planned as a library project has now evolved into an ambitious ICT center initiative. Ogunlewe explained the shift in focus, saying, “Why don’t we have an ICT center so that people can enjoy it? So we are still deliberating on that, and I think that’s what the issue is.” This forward-thinking approach reflects Ogunlewe’s commitment to enhancing educational and technological opportunities for the community.

Also, Hon. Ogunlewe highlighted government-executed projects in the Ifako-Gbagada area.

He drew attention to the deteriorating condition of Aina Ajayi Road in Gbagada and affirmed that Governor Babajide Sanwoolu had been alerted to the urgent need for its rehabilitation or reconstruction.
