Friends of Seun Ajayi, a close ally of Honourable Moyosore Ogunlewe, Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, have launched an appeal for financial assistance. Ajayi, an ardent supporter of Ogunlewe, faced a life-altering accident in April that led to the amputation of his legs to save his life. Now, he requires prosthetics, estimated to cost between ₦20 million and ₦25 million, to regain mobility and improve his quality of life.
A recent post highlighted the urgency of the situation: “We tried our best to save his legs, but amputation was necessary for survival. This platform has been set up to help him move forward, as he will need prosthetics and financial support for upkeep since he is currently unable to work.”
Independent findings by KosofePost underline the heavy financial burden associated with procuring high-quality prosthetics. Commenting on the situation, KosofePost publisher Bilesanmi Abayomi KOKO questioned the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals. KOKO drew a comparison with the United Kingdom, where local councils use tax revenue to provide comprehensive services, including health support, education, and financial allowances for vulnerable residents. He emphasized that in the UK, care for such individuals is non-discriminatory and ensures that those in need receive essential support regardless of political affiliation or status.
“It’s disheartening that those close to power must resort to public pleas for assistance,” KOKO stated. He called for local councils to prioritize policies that provide sustainable care for all vulnerable persons. “Seun and others like him within the community deserve care without political bias. It’s the government’s moral duty to support them unconditionally.”
KOKO’s call to action resonated with appeals for well-meaning members of the public to contribute towards Ajayi’s recovery. The loss of his legs has deeply affected his livelihood, making community support vital to helping him rebuild his life.
